Peter G. Christman, CEPA

CEO and Founder

Peter Christman is an investment banker, entrepreneur, and corporate executive. After spending 25 years as an investment banker with other firms, he founded the Christman Group. His vision was to provide middle market business owners with a comprehensive and integrated suite of services that simplify the exit process, while at the same time maximizing the value of each client's business.

Currently he is responsible for originating and executing middle market investment banking assignments at the Christman Group. During his 25-year career Pete has successfully sold more than 200 companies in a wide variety of industries. Transactions have ranged in size from several million dollars to over one hundred million dollars.

Peter runs the Christman Group's Chicago office and works directly with clients in the greater Chicago metropolitan area. Prior to founding the Christman Group, Peter was a principal in Business Search, Ltd. a Barrington-based middle market M&A firm that he founded. Before that, Peter was the co-founder of the Chicago office for a national middle market M&A firm, where he was consistently recognized as their most successful dealmaker.

Before becoming a middle market investment banker, Pete spent 17 years in high-level sales and marketing positions with both Ford Motor Company and Xerox Corporation.

Jack Emmons, MBA

Vice President, Transaction Support
John ("Jack") R. Emmons is an accomplished investment banker and transactional specialist. Jack brings more than 29 years of diverse domestic and international management experience to the Christman Group. Jack has over 18 years of merger and acquisition experience on both the buy-side and sell-side working for several nationally recognized middle market mergers and acquisitions firms. He has been involved in over 60 successful transactions with an aggregate market value of just over $500 million. Jack has also performed over 100 valuations of middle market companies.

Prior to his investment banking career, Jack spent 14 years in senior management positions including Director of Business Planning with Amphenol Corporation, a $500 million multinational subsidiary of Allied Signal, Inc. There Jack directed the development and implementation of an electronic components worldwide manufacturing strategy including the acquisition of several European companies, the formation of a joint venture in Japan, and the establishment of a manufacturing facility in Hong Kong.

Jack's responsibilities with the Christman Group include providing the Managing Directors of our regional offices with complete transaction support including, but not limited to, preparing business valuations, writing offering memoranda, doing industry research, identifying and contacting buyers, and a helping you with virtually every other aspect of serving your clients.

Before starting his professional career Jack served 4 years as a supply officer in the United States Navy and then 16 years in the Naval Reserves before retiring with the rank of Commander.

Jim Bates, MBA


Vice President, Transaction Support
Prior to joining the Christman Group, Jim ran his own business valuation company after managing the business valuation division of a national consulting firm.

Jim's responsibilities include providing the Managing Directors of our regional offices with complete transaction support including, but not limited to, preparing business valuations, writing offering memoranda, doing industry research, identifying and contacting buyers, and a helping you with virtually every other aspect of serving your clients. Jim has been involved in over 30 sell side engagements and has prepared over 500 business valuations.

In his spare time, Jim is a competitive tennis player at the national level and serves the Professional Tennis Registry as its representative for the state of Illinois. Currently, Jim is the two-time defending champion of the Midwest Harcourt, 35 and over, doubles championship He has been playing and/or coaching tennis competitively for over 25 years and is certified by the Professional Tennis Registry ("PTR") at the highest of their three levels.
